Bridal Series: Look 1- Falling in Love...with the Romantic Bride

Ok ladies, so if you have already watched my video, then you know that this look is a total re-creation of the look that I had from my own wedding. I decided on recording a bridal series because I've gotten a lot of requests on various bridal looks. I also remember how obsessed I was with everything bridal when I was planning my own wedding, so I decided that I will do a 3-5 part bridal series, and kick it off with my own look- The Romantic Bride.

I believe that bridal doesn't always have to mean neutral. I've come across just as many brides that prefer some color on their eyes, lips, and/or cheeks as those that prefer a more "traditional" neutral look. In my opinion, bridal makeup just means that you should look like the best you as possible. If you normally wear neutral makeup, then you should lean more towards a neutral palette for your bridal makeup. If you are a diva that loves color, then you should definitely try to incorporate some color in your look. Your wedding isn't really the time to totally transform to another person. You don't want your groom asking, "Who is that?"(lol)

Face: Moisturize & Prime, MAC Select Cover Up Concealer in NW43, MAC Studio Tech in NW45, MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW45, MAC Studio Stick Foundation in NW50, Black Opal Deluxe Finishing Powder in Medium, MAC Studio Fix Powder in NW45,

Eyes: Eye Drops, Urban Decay Primer Potion, MAC Fresco Rose Paintpot, MAC Spiked Brow Pencil, Too Faced Eyeshadow in Boy Toy, MAC Embark Eyeshadow, MAC Folie Eyeshadow, MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Warmed, MAC Smolder Eye Kohl, MAC #7 lashes, MAC Black Track Fluid line, Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara

On women of color, I really love a splash of a pale pink on the eye. It really adds an air of warmth and romance in my opinion.

This picture was brightened just to emphasize the importance of contouring & highlighting
Contour & Highlight: Contour- MAC Definitive Sculpting Powder, Highlight- MAC Warmlight Shaping Powder, Blush- MAC Bordeaux

Contouring & Highlighting can help you camouflage features that you would like to diminish and spotlight features that you would like emphasized

The impact of contouring and highlighting shouldn't be underestimated. Contouring and Highlighting adds dimension to the face. This is especially important when taking photos. As the bride, you will constantly be getting photographed. Without contouring and highlighting, your face may appear a bit rounder and washed out. The affects of contouring and highlighting are even more greatly appreciated in black and white photography because colors are translated into light, dark, and shadows. If you are planning on taking bridal portraits or would like some of your photos converted into black and white, do not skip this very important step.

Lips: Exfoliate & Moisturize (before you begin the makeup process), MAC Currant Lip Pencil, MAC Burning Lipstick, MAC Funtabulous Dazzleglass

Finish with MAC Prep & Prime Finishing Powder. This powder blends the whole look together for the appearance of a flawless application.

Dress & Veil: Custom Design

I absolutely loved how my dress turned out. It is a ball-gown style dress with a corseted deep sweet heart top. In my mind, it's a perfect combination of sweet and sexy (lol). The corseted top had boning through out the bodice for support. It was also heavily embellished with crystals and clear bugle beads. The bottom of the dress was made out of satin and 'lots, and 'lots of tulle and organza (lol). Inside, for fullness are layers of crinoline and 2 layers of another material to make sure that the crinoline doesn't come in contact with your skin and cause itchiness. It goes without saying that this dress was a bit heavy (although I just said it (lol).

I am completely aware that my dress maybe a bit over the top to some people, but it actually fits my personality to a tee. I wish there were more places to wear a wedding gown besides your own wedding (lol). Some of us spend years dreaming about it, months waiting for it to be ready, spend tons to order it, just to wear it for a few hours. It's totally not fair, but it's completely worth it. The memories, photos, and videos taken for those few hours as a bride are what's going to last you a lifetime.

Previous 2 photos are from our actual wedding

My advice to brides to be- Enjoy every moment of the planning process. Relax, relate, release. You may not get everything that you want and everything may not go as planned, but remember in the grand design of life, your wedding day is just that- a day (although it is one of the most important days of your life).

Remember you are a bride for a moment, but you are a wife for a lifetime :-)

Janet Prestige Legacy Remy Super French Update Review :-)

Hey Divas, since I still get a lot of questions about my Janet Legacy Wet & Wavy hair, I decided to post an updated and more detailed hair review.

Below are the videos that I've posted regarding this hair.

Here is also a link to HairStopandShop.com. They sent me two packs of the hair for review. I was going to do a fresh installation with the two new packs, but I figured that the best way for you ladies to see how good the quality of the hair really is, would be to re-install the same hair that I previously used 3 times before. The hair that they sent me was the exact same hair that I bought myself. I am really appreciative to them for sending me the hair because I am now able to show you the packaging that it came in. The people at HairStopandShop.com also informed me that the packaging of the Janet Legacy hair is now changing from the black that you see in the video to a red packaging. It will also no longer be called Janet Legacy Remy Super French, but now it will be known as Janet Prestige Legacy Remy  Super French.

Here are some photos of me with different installations of the same two packs of hair.

I really tried to answer many of the questions that I've received regarding this hair in this recent video, but if you have any further questions please first watch the previous videos regarding this hair, and if you still have questions please leave it in the comment section below.

Happy Sunday!!! OOTD :-)

Hey Divas, Happy Sunday :-)

Knee length fitted dress: ZARA, mini-Cardigan: Forever21

As I do every Sunday, I went to church today to fellowship with the Lord and fellow believers. I don't know about others but when it comes to dressing for church on Sunday I don't really have too hard of a time deciding on what to wear. The reason is because I wear what I have. I don't have "church clothes" and "everyday clothes". Most of my clothes are versatile enough to wear to church or for different occasions everyday. I've always had the understanding of knowing that God knows my heart and sees beyond what mere men see, so regardless of what I wear as long as I keep it descent and dress with the right motives, I'm happy and could care less what anyone else thinks.

Accessories: Necklace- Forever21, Broach- vintage

I'm in my church choir and the way that we try to keep uniformed is by color coordinating our outfits. We were told to wear brown and/or cream today and this was what I decided on. One of the things that I love about my church is that their is no dress code as long as you keep modesty in mind. You can come in jeans and sneakers or you can come with your Sunday best. Men look at and judge your outside appearance, but God is involved and concerned with matters of the heart.

Red Patent leather pointed dress shoes- Aldo, Handbag: Louis Vuitton

I don't believe in changing myself once a week just to prove to others who I am, I find that a bit hypocritical. The same person that I am on Sundays is the same person that I am everyday. He knows the real me regardless of what I'm wearing, so I'd rather not have any pretense. I decided to keep my outfit very me as usual, chic & fab with an air of modesty.

"One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple." Psalm 27:4

I hope you all are having a great weekend :-)

Date Night OOTD- Casual Glam for NYC'S Fashion's Night Out :-)

Hey ladies, so last night was New York City's Fashion's Night Out, which is an event that happens once a year around the kick off of NYC's Fashion week. Fashion's Night Out is a way for retail merchants and the city to work hand in hand in increasing sales for merchant's as well as boosting the economy of the city.

My husband and I decided to meet each other in the city and just take in the different events that were happening. I didn't really use this as an excuse to shop because although there were some terrific one day sales, I really didn't see anything that I wanted to splurge on right away. I'm not really a spontaneous shopper. I'm the kind of shopper that likes to think about a purchase and how it would fit into my wardrobe before I purchase, so since I live in New York I really didn't have the urge to buy anything right away (although I did stop at Sephora and purchased a few items).

Top: French Connection United Kingdom Sequined Spirit Blouse($100) on clearance, originally($228)

There were so many events that I wanted to attend, but I had to start off by myself since my husband had a meeting and wouldn't be joining me until later. I really wanted to see Michelle Phan at the 5th Ave Sephora, but I had a late start and knew that by the time I got there, the crowd would have been ridiculous. I saw some of her pictures from twitter about the event and she had a crowd forming an hour even before her segment was to begin.

Say what you want about Michelle Phan aka RiceBunny, but I think that she is a great example of where passion and persistence can take you via YouTube. I think she reaches such a massive audience because her demographic is the everyday woman. Women that don't necessarily want to look glam everyday, but just want to look fresh and pretty. Although some may say that her looks are a bit too simple to be called creative, I think that she is giving her audience exactly what they want and the formula seems to be working for her. She inspires me, not necessarily with her makeup tips and tricks, but by showing many of us what's possible.

Bottom: Forever21 Stretch Denim Jeans ($30)

Since I knew that I wouldn't make it in time to see her I decided to head over to Soho and just walk around and check out some events until it was time to meet my hubby in Times Square. Sorry that I don't have any pictures of the events that happened in Soho because my husband aka my camera man (lol) was carrying the camera. There were a lot of cocktail type events in that area. Although I don't drink, there were other things happening as well. Bloomingdale's had live mannequins, Anna Sui had personal shoppers that were willing to play dress up with you, MAC had Sarah Silverman do a quick performance as well as sign copies of her book, Victoria's Secret had some of their angels in the store (although I didn't participate in that because the crowd was ridiculous).

I then headed over to meet my hubby in Times Square. We walked around for about an hour, took some pictures with some random characters, and then I was ready to go. The Sephora there was super crowded. Although I did pick up a few things there, I really didn't want to stay to participate in anything because of the large crowd. I really headed over there because I wanted to catch a glimpse of some of the more popular YouTube gurus that were supposed to be there. I really don't know if they were there or not due to the over crowding.

Sephora @ Times Square

There was a man that seemed to be making "gold" letter and name plates @Sehora Times Square

There was also a model showing off the newest YSL red suede platform pumps in conjunction with the launch of a new YSL perfume being launched at Sephora

Only in NYC...
Yes totally random, but there were a group of about one dozen teenagers giving free hugs to passers by. I found it to be a bit strange, but I totally appreciate the concept.

My husband tried to convince me to get a free hug for fun. I told him that he should go first, I never did (lol). The concept of perfect strangers giving me a hug after they've given various random people a hug freaks me out! lol

Yup, totally random characters on the streets of NYC (lol). This is an everyday thing, not just for Fashion's Night Out...

Something seems a bit off about this joker. I just can't seem to put my finger on it...lol

I am sooo not a cat person, but even I couldn't resist Hello Kitty :-)

Spiderman, Spiderman!

My hubby needed a quick snack...fine NYC dining (lmbo)

Sooo ready to go home....
This wasn't the original outfit that I planned on wearing for the night, but the weather had other plans. My original outfit was planned based on the assumption of warmer weather, but it was actually a bit cool. Because it was Fashion's Night Out, I wanted to be fashionable, but comfortable at the same time. I wanted an air of elegant sophistication, but I didn't want to look like I tried too hard. Since I couldn't wear my original choice, I decided to pair this beautiful sequined blouse with a pair of light blue skinny stretch jeans. To me this screams, "I'm a Diva!, but I'm also very down to earth (lol)". Because the blouse is fully sequined, I decided to just add earrings and call it a day. My gladiator wedges have been getting a lot of use lately, they are extremely comfortable to walk in. I received a lot of compliments on my outfit all evening, but I think it was the razzle dazzle of the top that really caught people's attention.

I hope you had a great Friday night and I hope that you have a great weekend.
Did you attend any FNO events? If not, how did you enjoy your Friday night?

Sass & the City... :-) (Casual OOTD)

One of the things that I love about living in New York is the fact that if you are willing to make the effort, there is always something to do to entertain yourself.

My hubby and I wanted to go out last night but we didn't exactly know what we wanted to do (don't act like that never happened to you...lol), so we decided to just go out into the city and see where the wind would blow. We love doing this sometimes because everything is spontaneous.

In NYC you never know if you are going to end up at a 2 am comedy show or watching street performers until the sun comes up.

Yes, this is Times Square around 1am for those of you divas that have not had the opportunity to visit yet. It is truly the city that never sleeps.

Since we didn't have a particular destination in mind, I didn't want to over dress or under dress for wherever we may end up, so I decided to keep it sassy chic, but casual.

Shoes:Dolce Vita Gladiator wedges... Handbag: Dooney & Burke black suede hobo

It is a very rare occurrence for me to be seen in a mini skirt. I actually only posses less than a hand full of them. I'm not the biggest fan of them on me, but I just really liked the sassy-ness of this particular skirt. I also wanted to make sure that I got to wear it before the summer is over (lol).

(lol...I'm sitting in a giant catcher's mit right in the middle of the street. This is part of the charm of NY)

I always have a general rule regarding balance when dressing. I believe that although you don't have to spend a lot to look like you spent a lot; the easiest way to look cheap regardless of how much your outfit cost is to show way too much skin. Since I'm wearing a mini-skirt, I decided to pair it with a feather weight long sleeve t-shirt and a denim vest.

Top: Pamela Stewart long sleeve pink featherweight tee, Guess by Marciano denim vest

Accessories: Forever21 Necklaces

Skirt: Forever21 black mini ruffle skirt

You have to love NYC, it's almost to 2am and it feels like it's just 6pm. By the way ladies, right here in Times Square there is a Forever21 that is opened until 2am and Sephora is opened 'til midnight!!! So for all of you divas that live in the NYC vicinity, if you are bored or can't sleep, you can always head out to Times Square and do a little retail therapy...lol :-) Almost all the shops close around midnight, but most restaurants are opened until the sun comes up. You can also catch a comedy show at 2am which is what we ended up doing.

I had a blast walking, talking, and just observing the excitement of tourists and true New Yorkers at 2am. I love this city!!!
