Nothing Says DIVA More Than a Beautiful Red Lip

Check out Beyonce's new L'oreal Infallible commercial.

If you are anything like myself and the millions of other people that have seen this commercial, the one thing that jumps out at you is her beautiful red lips. The rest of her makeup is completely neutral so that the focus can be strictly on the lips; which is a great trick. If you dare to take the plunge into red lips, always make sure that the rest of your makeup is towards the neutral color pallet because you don't want anything competing with your lips. Too many colors on your face, plus a red lips can make you end up looking like a clown.

Another secret to red lips is to find the right shade of red that works for you. Every shade of red, cannot work on every skin tone. I find that for lighter skin complexions a yellow based red looks best (ex. MAC VivaGlam Cyndi or L'oreal Infallible Beyonce Red); but for darker complexions, a blue based red really compliments the skin tone nicely (ex. MakeupForever #205).

Red lips can take a drab face and make it look like a fab face with the stroke of a lipstick tube.
If u don't have the time to really "beat" your face ladies, just add a red lip to your look and it automatically adds glamor, sex appeal, and a timeless sophistication to your  look.

Give it a try and let me know what you think....

Here I am wearing MakeupForever #205 (The photo is a bit washed out. I took the picture back in January with my web cam before I got my lighting right...lol). If you want to see the color in better detail, click on the picture for a tutorial using MakeupForever #205.

FYI- A great benefit to a Red blue based lipstick is that your teeth will always look like you just had them bleached. Extra white & Fresh :-)

Outfit of the Day: Date Night at the Museum

My honey and I decided to spend our night at the critically acclaimed Brooklyn Museum.  I'm a lover of art, so of course I love museums, but this one specifically has special meaning to me. I went to high school right across the street from it, so I often spent a lot of time after school hanging out and discovering art and different cultures of the world in this museum.

Like most museums, the dress code is casual (except when hosting private parties and/or exhibitions). I decided to go for a semi-casual look. It was about 90 something degrees outside, but I still wanted to look chic, but comfortable.

What the FCUK?

No, I'm not cussing (lol), I'm just making the title of this post a little more catchy by using the acronym for French Connection United Kingdom. This boutique type shop in the heart of SOHO, NY has become one of (if not) my favorite for sassy, eye catching dresses that make a statement.

FCUK is a British retailer of clothing and accessories in many parts of the world, founded in 1972. In April 1997, French Connection began branding their clothes "fcuk" (usually written in lowercase). Apparently they first discovered the acronym when a fax was sent from their Hong Kong store, entitled "FCHK to FCUK".[2] Though they insisted it was an acronym for French Connection United Kingdom, its similarity to the word "fuck" caused controversy.

French Connection exploited the controversy of the name, producing an extremely popular range of t-shirts with messages such as "fcuk fashion", "fcuk this", "hot as fcuk", "mile high fcuk", "too busy to fcuk", "lucky fcuk", "Fun Comes Usually Kneeling", "fcuk on the beach", "Cool as fcuk", etc. There were also a number of regionally specific messages, such as "fondle constantly until knackered" (in the UK), "fcuk in hull" ,"no fcukin worries" (in Australia) and "fcuk off". "Chugging the fcuk" and "Munching on fcuk" were popular shirt titles but were later found as inappropriate. (Thanks Wikipedia :-)

French Connection now offers a fashion-forward clothing range with a quirky spin on design, priding itself on quality and affordable prices.

OK, now with the history lesson out of the way, let's move on to the fun stuff :-)

I actually re-discovered this store about 6 weeks ago by a fluke, but I am so glad that I did. If there is something that can make a woman feel really sexy and feminine, it is a beautiful dress. My wardrobe was seriously lacking quality dresses. I had trendy pieces that I quickly grew tired of after wearing them for a season, so I made up my mind to be wise with my budget and only invest in pieces that I felt could stand the test of time (or at least a few years). This meant that although I would be decreasing in the quantity of pieces that I could have, I would be increasing in quality, which really does serve me better.

I am so glad that I re-discovered FCUK just in time to take advantage of their semi-annual blow out sale. Ladies, if there is not a FCUK near you, don't fret. You can also take advantage of there blow out sale on really great pieces by checking out there website http://usa.frenchconnection.com.

Oh, and if you are wondering...No, I am not an employee of FCUK or affiliated with them in anyway. I just like to pass on great information that I feel like you Diva would appreciate :-)

Church...then Lunch :-)

This Sunday morning I decided to keep it a bit conservative, but a little animalistic. Today wasn't as crazy hot as it has been for the past few days, so I took advantage of that by wearing a long sleeve leopard print top; although it was very sheer and lightweight. I paired it with a coral camisole, khaki stretch dress pants, and a gorgeous snake skin clutch. If it was any warmer than what it was today, I wouldn't have been able to get away with it, but thank God the weather was on my side.

This outfit can also be considered an autumn outfit because of the color scheme, but because of the texture of the pieces, it was very summer appropriate. Every piece was very light weight and allowed for ventilation.

Sorry that this post doesn't really show my pants, but the focus of my outfit was really my blouse and my clutch. The pants really were plain stretch khaki dress pants, nothing really special to write about concerning them.
